Senior Forward Deployed Engineer - AI Agents
The Opportunity
Join one of the fastest-scaling AI companies in the world, building production-grade AI agents for enterprise customer experience, contact centres and real-time business operations.
Born from the Stanford AI Lab, this company has raised US$270m+ from leading global investors including a16z, Greylock and Sequoia, with revenue already north of US$100m ARR. The platform is trusted by major global enterprises, and combines AI agents, real-time human agent augmentation and conversation intelligence to drive measurable revenue and efficiency gains.
This is a hands-on engineering role at the front line of enterprise AI adoption.
The Role
- As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, you will build and deploy AI agents that solve practical business problems for enterprise customers.
- This is not a traditional backend role. It is not a traditional solutions role either.
- You will operate across software engineering, AI agent development, integrations, customer problem-solving and production deployment. You will need to be technical enough to build, pragmatic enough to ship and commercially aware enough to understand what customers actually need.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop, configure, deploy and optimise AI agents for enterprise customers.
- Build integrations with external systems including APIs, databases, CRMs, contact-centre platforms and enterprise workflows.
- Gather technical requirements and translate business needs into AI solutions.
- Fine-tune prompts, workflows, configurations and agent behaviours to improve performance.
- Troubleshoot issues across complex enterprise environments.
- Run interactive demos and proof-of-concepts with prospective and live customers.
- Define milestones, implementation plans and technical delivery pathways.
- Partner with Forward Deployed Product Managers to define agent goals and maximise customer ROI.
- Provide technical guidance on architecture, security, scalability and AI agent best practice.
- Feed real deployment learnings back into product and engineering teams.
What We’re Looking For
You could come from software engineering, AI engineering, ML engineering, technical consulting, solutions architecture or forward deployed engineering.
The ideal profile will bring:
- 3+ years across software development, consulting, AI/ML engineering or forward deployed engineering.
- Strong programming capability, ideally in Python and Go.
- Experience building clean, efficient, production-grade systems.
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, LLMs and prompt engineering.
- Understanding of AI agent frameworks, function calling and retrieval-augmented generation.
- Experience integrating systems through APIs, webhooks and data pipelines.
- Cloud experience across AWS, GCP or Azure.
- DevOps experience across CI/CD, containerisation, monitoring or infrastructure.
- Strong analytical approach, including A/B testing, monitoring and optimisation.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working directly with customers.
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and solve problems without waiting for perfect instructions.
Bonus Points
- Hands-on experience building AI agents, RAG systems or LLM applications.
- Experience in customer-facing technical roles.
- Background in high-growth SaaS, AI startups or elite engineering environments.
- Familiarity with customer support, contact centre or enterprise workflow systems.
- Experience turning customer problems into scalable product improvements.
Why This Role Is Compelling
Most AI companies are still pitching concepts. This company is already deploying AI agents into live enterprise environments.
You will be joining a business with:
- US$270m+ raised
- Backing from a16z, Greylock and Sequoia
- Revenue already north of US$100m ARR
- Major enterprise customers live on the platform
- Leadership with deep AI pedigree, including executives who helped build Google Contact Center AI and Vertex AI
- A platform solving one of the clearest enterprise AI use cases in market
- Significant hiring across Forward Deployed Engineering as customer demand accelerates
This is an opportunity to work on real AI deployment, real integrations and real enterprise impact.
Location
United States, remote.
Best Fit For
This role is ideal for someone who wants to stay hands-on technically while working directly with customers on high-impact AI deployments.
You may be a strong fit if you are:
- A senior backend engineer who wants more customer impact.
- An AI/ML engineer who wants to deploy agents into production.
- A product-minded engineer who enjoys solving business problems.
- A solutions architect who still wants to build.
- A forward deployed engineer who wants to join a category-leading AI company.
- A technical consultant who wants to move into a high-growth AI product environment.
If you want to build AI systems that actually get deployed, used and measured inside major enterprises, this is one of the strongest roles in the market.
